The Power Of
Intercessory Prayer
The fact that Jesus prayed often,
and the fact that He often prayed through the night, must surely convince us
that prayer most definitely makes a difference.
And if prayer really does make a
difference, then who of us can claim to be praying enough? If our prayers can
bring blessing to ourselves, and if our prayers can bring blessing to others,
and if our prayers can severely limit the impact that Satan can have on the
lives of others, should we not all be far more diligent in prayer? should we not
be praying diligently at least three times a day? should we not all have prayer
lists that are meticulously organized?
`Prayer is the answer to
every problem in life. It puts us in tune with divine wisdom which knows
how to adjust everything perfectly.' (RH 10-07-65)
`In
rescuing souls from Satan's devices, far more will be
accomplished by Christlike, humble prayer than by many words
without prayer.' (CM81)

If intercessory prayer calls down angels to tend to the needs of those for whom we
are praying, and if it erects a wall of defense around them, and if it results in
their being blessed in any number of ways, as it surely does, then we all should
be wearing our knees thin
in intercessory prayer, wearing our minds thin in thinking of people to pray for,
and wearing our shoes thin in doing for others all that our concern demands.
Just think of it, if we all
prayed more diligently for others - daily - and this in a structured, orderly
fashion, we could effectively tie the hands of Satan? No wonder Paul urges us to "pray
without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:10)
What are we waiting for?
If `the effective, fervent
prayer of a righteous man avails much," surely prayer should be very high on our
list of daily priorities? (James 5:16)
If you are not already doing so,
then we invite you to give intercessory prayer the priority that it deserves in
your prayer life. If you do not already have your own structured system of recording the
names of those for whom you are praying, and the subjects that you wish to pray
for, then we invite you to use the simple and
yet powerful system that we use.

Instructions For Using Your
Prayer Lists
to print your prayer list/s.
(1) Print out a prayer list and
write in your name and the date in the top left corner of the page.
(2) At the top right corner of
the page tick whether this list is for people/subjects that you feel you need to
pray for daily or weekly or monthly.
(3) If this is a daily list, then
tick whether it is to be included in your morning, midday or evening prayer. If
it is a weekly list, then write in the day of the week (ie Monday) that it is to
be included in one of your daily prayers. If it is a monthly list, then write in
the date of the month (ie 22nd) that it is to be included in your daily prayers.
Depending on your prayer habit, you may elect whether to pray for weekly and/or
monthly lists at either your morning, midday or evening prayer.
(4) Write details of the
people/subjects that you wish to pray for down the left side column, and add
specific requests relative to those people/subjects down the right side column.
(5) Now prepare a file with three
dividers - one for Daily Lists, one for Weekly Lists and one for Monthly Lists.
Then punch your list and file it accordingly. File Daily lists in prayer order
(morning, midday or evening),
Weekly lists in weekday order, and Monthly lists in date order.
(6) Now, whenever you pray, start
with the relevant Daily prayer, and then check if there is a prayer list for that day
in the Weekly section, and then check if there is a prayer list for that date in the
Monthly section.
(7) For your own encouragement,
record all answered prayers at the foot of the page. When a specific prayer has
been answered, feel free to transfer the person/subject to a weekly or a monthly
list - or, depending on the nature of the request, you may delete it.
